AU History:
Asch and Luke fon Fabre were born seven minutes apart, to a wealthy fandom in the Union. Luke, the youngest of the two boys was sickly as a child and garnered most of his parent’s attentions from his older brother. This caused Asch to spite him for reasons Luke couldn’t control and the once close twins began growing apart. Luke ended up distancing himself from Asch a lot and becomes best friends with their former babysitter Guy Cecil. At seventeen, their father told them they would need to find jobs in the city, what with all the chaos lately, and so both boys decided to join the Swords of Savior since… well, in Luke’s case because it seemed way easier than anything else. He doesn’t think he should have to work at all.
Because he was sick from roughly five years old to ten years old, Luke was kept isolated from just about everyone and longs to go out and see the world. He hates that even outside their family’s manor he’s trapped inside the walls of Union. One day, he hopes he can go out and travel beyond it.
While his childhood sickness is gone, Luke has developed chronic migraines. Consequentially, he and his brother suffer from them at the same time, every time...
Edit for Reapp 12/14:
During his first course in Brave New World, Luke worked at becoming a better Sword at the influence of his cousin Cordelia. He's not the best, nor is he very mature about it still, but since he's been separated from Asch on missions his career has been going a bit smoother. His starter Eevee Mieu evolved into a Flareon and he made friends with a number of new Pokemon, including a Totodile named Chomper who refuses to evolve and a shiny Shinx named Simba. During an outing with his brother into the mountains in June, the twins got lost on the mountain's peak. Almost freezing to death from the exposure and the meddling of a Froslass, Luke and Asch awakened as Fennekin Shifters and managed to keep warm until they got down off of the mountain. Being so overprotective, their parents kept them inside for a long while after that. Feeling fed up with being inside again, Luke talked his brother into leaving the city with him after dark and sneaking out. They became lost out in the wastes and, months later, are finally finding their way home. During the process, the twins evolved from their small Fennekin forms and into the second stage of evolution: Braixen. (Using a week of intensive training for this.)
Canon Personality:
Luke is a spoiled brat. There’s no if ands or buts about it. He was raised in a rich home, isolated inside his manor with only his parents and servants around him, completely naive to the world. This caused him to become spoiled and self centered, believing that everything revolves around him and that people do things for only his well being. This is shown when he and Tear are in a village for the first time and he takes an apple from a stall, totally unaware that he has to pay for it. When told about it, he simply tells them to put it on his father’s bill. At this stage, Luke does everything as "a Fabre." You can’t do that to me, I’m Luke fon Fabre! I’m the AMBASSADOR! Because of his father’s station as a Duke and his uncle’s station as the King, Luke assumes his own name will get him anywhere he wants to be. Of course that isn’t the case and it often gets him in trouble, but it’s just one example of how self centered and spoiled Luke can be at any given moment in time.
Because he "lost his memories" of being 10 years and younger, Luke spent the next seven years learning how to talk, walk, read, and write all over again. His knowledge is so limited because of this that he’s naive and almost innocent in a very sad way. Like he tells Tear when she asks how he can be so unknowledgable, "I spent the last seven years remembering my parent’s faces." He’s so naive in this way that it’s concerning to those close to him in the story and from the player’s perspective. Using this, characters in game manipulate Luke into doing what he does for their own benefit and cause him to do something unthinkable: causing one of the Sephiroths to break and plummet into the abyss of the Qliphoth and killing roughly 10,000 people in the process. Many would hate Luke for this, and do, but as he was manipulated by the one person he thought he could trust, it only paints him as even more sympathetic in the end. He’s naive and stupid and a harm to himself and everyone around him, but he isn't a bad kid. He does all the things he does out of ignorance, not malice. While he knows he has to atone for the things he's done, Luke also knows he did them because he didn't know better or because he didn't know who to trust. He can be a stupid, naive little baby, but he isn't malicious or evil. Over time, the rest of the party comes to see this as well. They accept his faults, even if they don't forgive him for them right away, and are able to work passed it and help him learn what to do instead of simply scolding him. Luke only have seven years experience living so it's difficult for him to keep moving forward and understanding things but even if it takes time Luke is willing to strive to be a better person and try and make those watching him proud. It comes from a selfish place at first, only not wanting to be scolded, but eventually Luke finds a purpose in it and begins to change.
Starting with a long talk about what he'd done at Akzeriuth with Tear, he takes one of her knives and cuts off his long hair. This symbolizes changes, especially in Japanese culture. Since it's a JRPG, it's only fitting that this is what Luke does when he puts his first foot forward and starts on a journey to make up for what he's done. Most people refer to this distinction as "Long Haired Luke" and "Short Haired Luke," considering them almost different characters. While this isn't the case, it does have a lot of precedence. Luke with his short hair is ready to move on from his ignorant, spoiled upbringing. Instead of just telling someone off for making him angry, he'll... tell them off for making him angry or get angry because he doesn't understand, before doing a 180 and apologizing and asking what he should do or asking what they meant in the first place. A simple yet easy way to see this happening is his relationship with the Cheagle, Mieu. Mieu owes his life to Luke and calls him "Master," but Luke hates him and calls him "Thing" and kicks him around. When Luke starts to change and finds out that Mieu stayed at his side when everyone else left him to go with Asch, he actually feels bad for what he's done to Mieu all this time. He stops calling him "Thing" and kicking him around (mostly,) and they actually talk to one another normally in the skits and things. This Luke is also less dense than he was prior, realizing when he says a stupid thing instead of having to have someone yell at him for it. He solves problems more quickly and gets along better with others. Considering Luke is technically only seven years old, this is a big leap for his character.
Even with all this development though, Luke doesn't really get over being spoiled and naive entirely. Like stated previously, "Long Haired Luke" and "Short Haired Luke" aren't truly separate characters like fandom (and canon, considering all of the Tales of World fanservice) likes to make it out to be. He messes up, he's stupid, he's overly trusting and unable to move forward without the help of his friends. He's still all of those things, but with the final addition of being able to learn the things he's always wanted to, to be able to leave his parent's home and move on to his own adventures. Cutting his hair only signifies that Luke has started to grow up.
AU Deviation:
Luke will mostly be just like his canon counterpart. The main distinction is that he'll still be a spoiled, naive brat and have no one to talk him out of that in this verse. He won't have Tear to yell at him, or Jade to lecture him, or anything like that. He'll be ignorant and mean to others without knowing that he's wrong.
He'll probably know that he has to pay for things, though.
Canon Abilities:
All canon Artes!
Enlightened Abilities:
Luke will eventually awaken as a Fire/Psychic type Enlightened. Like his brother, his Enlightened abilities haven't made themselves known yet, and his family has given up on waiting for it. Over time in game, however, Luke will awaken as a Fennekin type Shifter and evolve as such.
His first ability will be a simple fire type attack, such as Ember, honed through sword play. His psychic link with his brother will be awakened at this time, letting them communicate through a telepathic link. This will cause migraines and headaches to form however, so they won't be able to do it all the time.
His second ability will be Flame Charge, mirroring his Burning Havoc arte in canon, and his psychic link with Asch will grow to a point where he can see through his brother's own eyes. (Again, mirroring canon.)
Luke's final ability will be Mystical Fire, mirroring his Devil's Inferno arte in canon, and his psychic link with Asch will become finite, letting them both communicate and talk through each other at any time.
(Link to Hyperresonance at the Wikia to explain the point of their psychic ability better.)
Starter Pokémon: Eevee named Mieu (and sometimes “Thing”)

SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)

10+ Comments at Musebox!
I hope a different AU is okay, since I saw other people using STE as examples as well.

"What, you want that kinda dumb thing?"
If online shopping existed on his Warp Band, Luke fon Fabre wouldn't be walking through the shopping district with his Eevee right now, mingling with peasants. It was crowded and hot, and he just wanted to go home already but Mieu had insisted on looking around. Not ...actually wanting to let the stupid thing get lost and not be able to find its way home, Luke had begrudgingly accepted and walked through the stores with Mieu at his heels. He wasn't really looking at anything, only vaguely looking down when Mieu caught his attention every so often. Being able to walk around by himself like this now was still new to the teenager. It had only been recently that his mother and father let him leave the manor without someone accompanying him... it had been half the reason he hadn't refused to take on a job like his father had wanted for him. It was a great feeling, but being around big crowds like this was a little intimidating for him. Hearing Mieu yip, he'd looked around again at the Pokemon and found the Eevee pawing at a Pokemon sweater on a low rack. It was soft, and had a white and green argyle motif knit into it.
"That's really girly," he told the Pokemon, but reached down for it anyway. "For small to medium sized Pokemon... I guess it'd fit you."
Mieu jumped up happily, yipping and excited as Luke picked it off the rack and the red head groaned, nudging him away with his foot. It was so annoying sometimes... that noise got on his nerves so bad... Mieu looked happy though, looking up at him with those big dumb eyes practically sparkling and Luke rolled his own eyes dramatically.
"Whatever, fine. That just means I can buy something for me too."
Once he'd picked out a new jacket for himself and paid for both, he sat on a bench outside the shop with Mieu and slipped the sweater over his head and body with a sigh. It made his fur puff out at awkward angles and the wool had made it all static-y. Stupid thing... Luke just sighed, sitting back and looking around himself, at all the people. Outside in the air like this, it was a little better. The air was fresh and Mieu was settled down a little now, curling up on the bench beside him to watch the passerby. Maybe going home could wait for just another couple of minutes...
